HOW TO POSE YOUR COUPLES - THE ILLUSTRATED GUIDE #2

After receiving great feedback from my first guide, I decided to quickly create a second one.

People also gave some great tips on how you can use it on a shoot: Simply save it on your memory card, so when you are scrubbing through your photos, you can check your guide to make sure you didn't forget anything.

So here it is:

lift her up - pose

here some examples from @indiaearl

Thank you for reading this, I hope to add more examples soon. Don't forget to save this and share it with your friends! I'll be posting some new content for portraits, families and other helping tools soon!

HOW TO POSE YOUR COUPLES - the illustrated guide #1

When taking pictures of couples I easily get stuck after three or four poses. What helps me is a little sketchbook I always cary in my camera bag with illustrations of poses. Why illustrations and not photos? That's a good question. When I look at a photo, I'm usually drawn into taking exactly the same picture and frame it the same way. On the other hand, with illustrations, I tend to be more open. I always try to shoot different pictures, from details to wide shots in order to get everything out of one pose.

I hope this helps you on your next shoot. Let me know.

Got to meet this lovely young couple over coffee before heading out for a photoshoot in downtown Zurich. We took a walk from Zurich Hardbrücke to the Limmat river and back along the viaduct. Can't wait to take capture their wedding day!

Best of 2015

On the last day of the year I went through thousands of edited photos from 2015 to single out some of my favourites. I wouldn't describe myself as too sentimental or emotional but knowing the story behind every picture has brought up so many great memories.

I count myself lucky to have had the opportunity to get to know so many great couples and people through photography. Even more, I am excited for 2016!

(all pictures are from 2015, shot in Switzerland, USA, Norway and UK, in no particular order)

I still have to pinch myself knowing that it's already November but warm like in August. We had such a great shoot. After getting to know each other quickly, we walked up to an old ruin in Baden, Switzerland. Already on our way up I had to stop the happy couple to take some shots because the light was just perfect and exactly how I like it.

I only used my Canon 6d with the 35mm f1.4 and later edited it in Lightroom CC with a free VSCO preset (Kodak Gold).

It's always inspiring to see great creative minds at work and I had the privilege to experience it up close and capture what happened behind the scenes (BTS) at the latest production of the Hillsong film team in London.

Scenes were shot on two separat days (Saturday and Sunday) in Central London.

Creative Exec: Emile Freeman // Director: Paul Martin // DP: Simeon Geyer // Producer: Andreas Kranzler // Lighting: Lincoln Waldron // Focus: Karl McAdam

Switzerland is known for its beautiful scenery during winter especially around Mount Rigi or also known as Queen of the mountains. And though we didn't plan on going there at first I cannot tell you how relieved I am now to have been there, that day and hour. We had spent the afternoon shooting away but the harsh light didn't please us as hoped. We decided to take a break and have a warm chocolate. Finally, as we walked out, the sun was about to set and I knew how little time we had left to take the most amazing pictures.

SALOME + PASCAL

After rescheduling a few times due to bad weather forecast we decided to meet up anyway for a cup of coffee at my place. Finally it was the perfect to go outside: Sunny and not too cold.

Behind the Zurich airport there are a few beautiful spots. I love to go there by myself but it's a perfect location for photoshoots.

This was a simple 1+ hour session.
